The idea of establishing an investment fund named VELA Fund in 2016 with the desire to assist and promote the Vietnamese SME community to expand their market across Southeast Asia was born.
In the same year, VELA Fund became a strategic partner of Alibaba and Alipay, operating as a trade bridge for the export of Alibaba goods to the Vietnam market.
In 2017, VelaGroup selected the Philippines as the first foreign market to set up a representative office. Along with building a warehouse system of over 600sm, VelaGroup developed an operation and customer care team, and international transportation from China to Philippines, becoming the trust-worthy operator of thousands of SMEs. VelaGroup cooperated with ZTO (China's leading logistics unit) and the leading Philippine delivery companies.
In 2018, VELA Fund transformed into a technology company operating in the field of online retail, determined to put technology as the foundation for development, focusing on investing in a capable team, developing operation management software, sales management software aimed at optimizing costs and business efficiency for customers.
After significant accomplishments in the Philippines, VelaGroup aggressively expands markets in Indonesia and Thailand in 2020, laying the groundwork for future expansion into Asia.
Simultaneously, VelaGroup cooperated with strategic investment in Ubox E-Commerce Logistics Exchange and leading shipping companies in Indonesia & Thailand such as: SAP Express, J&T, JNE, ThaiPost, Kerry Express and others.
In 2021, VELA restructured and established a diverse and comprehensive service ecosystem.
In 2022, VELA established VELA Malaysia and VELA Cambodia.
Also during this period, VELA developed strategic partnership with leading Chinese media company Yogou, international payment gateway Pingpong and Paypal.
